Cloud County men's soccer sends 13 players off to four-year institutions

CONCORDIA, Kansas — Cloud County Community College men's soccer program announced on Monday the four-year transfer lists for the 2017-18 roster, which includes 13 former players or redshirts who have found homes for the upcoming 2018-19 school year.

It's a transfer class that played a vital role in helping the T-Birds to back-to-back Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) West championships and a 33-4-2 combined record over the last two seasons.

"This is a very unique signing class and every single kid contributed to the program," said Cloud County head coach, James Ross. "All these student-athletes bought in, saw the bigger picture, and are moving on to universities and finishing their degrees. That's what Cloud County soccer is all about."

Seven of the 13 players will be heading south to Cleveland, Mississippi as Mateus Malafaia, Saindou Ali, Hakeem Smith, Christian Henao, Ricardo Susanna, Ricardo Aquilar and Bryan Santos all signed with Delta State University; a NCAA Division II institution in the Gulf South Conference.

Redshirt freshmen Colton Smith signed with the University of South Carolina Upstate and fellow redshirt Damian Debrot has committed to Webber International University.

Sophomore captains and starters, Alan Brandao and Rafael Santos, will also be heading the NCAA Division II route as the duo inked with Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee.

Santos finished his career at Cloud County with 10 goals and 25 points, while Brandao scored four career goals and anchored the T-Birds' backline as a two-year starter at center back.

The T-Birds placed two additional impact sophomores at NCAA Division II programs in defenseman Rafael Alkmin and forward Luiz Garcia.

Alkmin has signed to play for Newman University, while Garcia will be heading west to Hawaii Pacific University.

Garcia, who was a Second-Team All-American this past season, leaves Concordia as Cloud County's fourth all-time goal scorer with 24, and fifth all-time for points in a single season with 46. His 20 goals in 2017 is the third best mark in program history.
