EL DORADO, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College cross country teams had an excellent showing Monday evening at the Ollie Isom Invitational, hosted by Butler Community College at Wartick farm.

Cloud County saw its men's team put together one of its stronger performances to date as five runners finished inside the top-12 to lift the T-Birds to an event win.

"I was so proud of everyone (Monday)," said Cloud County head coach, Drew Mahin. "The course was fast and fairly flat, but the kids expected to fight and earn their best performances."

Moses Dirane again the paced the T-Birds as the sophomore won the individual race with a time of 25:21.24. Fellow sophomore Thobile Mosito joined him in the top-5 with a third-place finish after crossing the line in 25:55.18.

Cloud County also received top-10 finishes from sophomore Stephen Marindich (6th, 26:34.68) and freshman Burke Deters (10th, 27:11.55), while freshman Longins Kouri was right behind them in 12th place with a time of 27:14.46.

"Moses talked to the (top-5 guys) about looking to the regional meet and making a statement Monday," Mahin said. "He had them dialed in to run with the best team effort of the year."

In the women's race, sophomore Thandeka Manzana produced a solid showing as she finished 30th out of 88 runners with a season-best time of 21:00.55. Freshman Sadie Jones came in 61st place (23:19.21).

The T-Birds will look to keep the momentum rolling when they head off to the KJCCC/Region VI Meet in two weeks (Oct. 30), hosted by Garden City Community College.
