DODGE CITY, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College women's soccer team earned its second consecutive blowout victory on Wednesday as the T-Birds got out of Dodge City with a 7-0 victory over the Conquistadors.
Cloud County (10-1 overall, 8-1 KJCCC), which was coming off a 6-2 win last Saturday against Hesston College, has extended its current winning streak to three games to remain in second place in the KJCCC West standings.
Freshman midfielder Franciele Cupertino, fresh off a four-goal performance in the win over Hesston College, added another score on Wednesday. She is now tied with freshmen Fernanda Peinado and Izabella Christina for the team lead with 12 goals on the season.
Peinado netted a pair of goals in Wednesday's win and freshman Aroa Nieto, who entered the day with one goal in 2018, had her best game as a T-Bird with two goals, as well, on six shots.
Sophomore midfielder Maria Barbosa and Christina also found the back of the net to round of Cloud County's scoring.
As a team, Cloud County dominated the action with a 19-2 shot advantage over the Conquistadors (6-6-1 overall, 5-4 KJCCC).
Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Cordice picked up her third win in net as she stopped both Dodge City shots she faced. Cordice is currently 5-for-5 in save opportunities across her four appearances.
Cloud County will look to build off Wednesday's victory when it continues its current four-game road swing at 1 p.m. Saturday against Pratt Community College.
The T-Birds defeated the Beavers, 7-0, in the first meeting between the two teams on September 12.
