Linn's Brooke Diederich signs with Cloud County

CONCORDIA, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College track and field team inked Brooke Diederich out of Linn High School.

Diederich is a sprinter who helped the Bulldogs to back-to-back Class 1A 4X100-meter relay state championships in 2014 and 2015. She is also a skilled long jumper as she finished third in Class 1A last season in the event with a leap of 16-feet, 4.25 inches.

"She's very talented and I think she can help us in a lot of areas," said Cloud County head women's coach, Ted Schmitz. "I expect her to be outstanding in the long jump, she'll do some sprinting for us, and we're very excited to have her signed."

Diederich said she plans on studying in the Health, Human Performance and Recreation discipline. She said the campus and chance to continue her track career were the determining factors that will bring her to Concordia next year.

"It (Cloud County) is a small, friendly college," Diederich said. "I liked the smaller classrooms and the chance to keep running track."
