Cloud County concludes the Pizza Hut Classic with four-set losses to Casper College and Western Wyoming

STERLING, Colorado — The Cloud County Community College volleyball team lost a pair of four-set matches on Saturday during the second day of the Pizza Hut Classic, hosted by Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado.

Cloud County (9-9 overall, 1-3 KJCCC East) started the afternoon against Casper College, winning the first set 25-19 before Casper College came back and rattled off wins of 25-18, 25-14 and 27-25.

Freshmen Haven Hamilton and Dayana Chara each finished with 10 kills to lead the T-Birds, while freshman Jessica Williams and sophomore Giovanna Fundaro added eight kills and seven kills, respectively.

Fundaro led all Cloud County players with 11 digs against Casper College, as well. Freshman defensive specialist Willow Hunt had nine digs, and sophomore setter Cammie Miller produced seven digs to go with her team-high 30 assists. 

The T-Birds then concluded the day with a matchup against Western Wyoming. Cloud County was again able to get off to a good start, earning a 25-14 win in Set One, but were unable to keep the momentum going as WNCC won the final three sets 25-10, 25-22 and 25-15.

Stats were unavailable for the match against WNCC.

Cloud County will look to get back on track Monday when it hosts McPherson College JV at 6:30 p.m. inside Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
